Yahoo! answers is well-known for hosting both ridiculous questions and poor answers. For instance, there’s the completely bewildering “How is babby formed?“, an entertaining reading of which can be found here. I was looking for statistics of body sizes recently and stumbled upon this question. The question itself is ok, but the answers seem to say that there is no such thing as an average male arm size. If you interpret arm size to mean the circumference of the upper arm at the peak of the flexed bicep, say, then there most certainly is an average arm size. Any finite set of numbers has an average, and there are certainly finitely many male human arms to measure. The large variance in arm sizes, due to unaccounted factors like age, height, etc., implies that the average of all this data alone tells you precious little. But just like male nipples, the average exists in spite of its uselessness.
