Boneshaker is bad

Filed under: Books — cfranc @ 4:36 pm

I gave up reading Boneshaker on the weekend and have since started Death with Interruptions by the 1998 Nobel laureate Jose Saramago. This book has been on my list of books to read for some time now. It’s a humorous take on what would happen if the anthropomorphic personification of death quit her job. Saramago can be difficult to read, as he tends to use very long sentences patched together with many commas. He also eschews quotation marks and does not use line breaks for dialogue. If you can cope with all of that, though, his stories are well worth the price of admission.
